Devon Thrumston is an active member of the Bay Area music community, with a particular emphasis in contemporary music, and graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California with a BA in music in 2012. She has played with a variety of ensembles, ranging from classical chamber music to Argentine tango orchestras, to jazz quintets.

Raised in Boulder, Colorado, Devon began playing cello with the public school orchestra programs in her elementary school. Her early musical experiences exposed her to a wide variety of musical styles and cultures, and instilled a love for new music. After moving to California for college, Devon discovered her passion for teaching, and strives to help her students discover their own unique musical voices.
